Custom hoodies: styles, printing & what to know

Hoodies carry the highest perceived value of anything you can print - which makes them the piece worth getting right. Here’s how to pick a style, a blank, and a method that fits whether you’re selling a drop, outfitting a team, or handing them out.

Pullover vs zip, light vs heavy

  • Pullover gives you the biggest uninterrupted canvas for a front or back print - the default for graphic drops.
  • Full-zip reads more like outerwear and suits staff and everyday layering, but splits the front graphic.
  • Weight: heavyweight fleece feels premium and retail; midweight keeps cost and warmth reasonable for bulk.

Which print method

Screen printing is the most economical for big front/back graphics and bulk runs, and unlocks specialty inks like puff. Embroidery is the premium move for a left-chest logo that lasts. DTF covers full-color art and smaller quantities. A common combo: a bold screen-printed back with a small embroidered chest logo. See the full method guide.

Pick the blank to the job

Selling a drop? Spend up on heavyweight retail fleece (Independent, AS Colour) so it feels like product. Outfitting staff or handing hoodies out? A durable, cost-effective Gildan Heavy Blend does the job for less. The best blanks guide covers the full range, and the pricing guide explains what moves the number.
